Sheldon, My Tacho (Series 3 Espada - 1974) is electric. I have a noise from a similar area that took months to track down. It is the ventilation fan that is lose on its mountings, and when the car is braked, or during a gear change, the fan moves forward and hits the cowling. It really had me going, until I realized that the noise was only there on hot days when I had the fan running.... I hear a ticking noise which is in sync. with the gear changes as I drive. This car is the Chevaghini with a 400 turbo automatic. I know it"s not the speedo as the cable broke months ago. The noise seems to come through the center of the dash behind the location of the clock. I don"t hear anything if the car is in the garage at idle, or reved up. The tach needle is very stable, no fluttter. This just started the other day. The noise begins as soon as you start moving and during the the 1-2 gear change. I also thought of a possible header pipe leak. regards,Sheldon ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ---------------------~--> Yahoo! Autos.
