That car belongs to the fellow that bought what was left of the original turbo 4 liter motor that came out of my car. The story is; the former owner turned the boost up to the moon, romped on the throttle and actually twisted the block around the crank...Bob, at that point, re-iterated the idea that using a turbo in a long form, aluminum engine was fraught with potential disaster. That"s why there were only three attempts at that idea. He felt that his ideas for increasing stroke, compression, cam timing and exhaust improvements would net the same result with a much more reliable motor. It was his idea to badge it with "SV" on the rear. Instead of shimming the heads, he custom machined new ones....thus increased the needed height for the manifold/carbs to clear. This new manifold also gave him the opportunity to re-work the manifold flow. This triple disc clutch set-up that is in the car you mention is also present in my car.....along with cross drilled brakes and some tricky ignition and fuel delivery goodies. All this horsepower (would LOVE to get it on Laust"s dyno) coupled with the lighter S body makes this car a completely different animal than my QV. As far as I know, this is the only car that received an engine like this and I would love to get it in front of some of the more technically minded lambo fiends on this list....one of you guys could really shed a lot more light on what"s going on under the hood here. Meantime....I"ll relate more info as the documentation is gone through. In short, it"s a Countach SV (yep, similar to the black one in Germany) that was a pet project of Bob Wallace"s, 8 years ago. I drove it a few miles before the purchase and it put a new wrinkle on the word acceleration. Scary fast. Bob started with a turbo setup (one of the three that he built) and after THAT didn"t work, he built the guy a special 5 liter motor from an LM002 block. Special cams, rods, pistons, heads, intake manifold, headers, mucho brake work and some suspension tweaking. I won"t have the car in sight again for awhile, it"s going to Bobileffs for some cleanup, so details will have to wait. Now I know what you folks with carbureted Countach"s have been going on about.
