Re: [VintageLambo] Re: another dumb brake booster question

Body of Message

Hi Doc, Be shocked. There is no accumulator on my 400. Likewise, there is no check valve in the line like you have in the Espada. A tee from the two manifolds feeds a single, long pipe that routes directly to the two boosters located in the driver"s side fender well in the trunk. That"s why I made the observation yesterday about how our 400s could benefit from an accumulator of some sort, to "store" some of that vacuum that increases during deceleration. I have noticed an improvement in my own brakes since Ron Karp rebuilt my boosters and master cylinder. Of course, I also rebuilt all four wheel caliper assemblies and replaced the pistons with stainless. It all helps and lord knows, we need all the help we can get to stop! B/R Jack I would be shocked if the 400 family doesn"t(didn"t) have an accumulator as well. Perhaps the long line from the front to the rear acts as the accumulator. There is a check valve in the line, just before the first booster downstream from the flex line leading from the left front take off of the mainfold. This take off location is another example of the unimportance venturi plays in the role of creating vacuum. The takeoff is simply the result of easiest location, not maximum venturi value. ________________________________ * * * Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to the Yahoo! Terms of Service .
