Hi Folks, Got a really neat email today from Jon Gaspar about the Lambo brake x- ref list he created and we put up on our 400gt site: http://www.geocities.com/lamboguy/brakxr11.html Here"s his email: >> I was pleasantly surprised to see the brake parts list up on the web. Compiled ages ago and first published in the Lamborghini Club Newsletter with the assistance of Al and Henia Burtoni. It was compiled as a response to members complaint to being ripped off for seemingly common components. You must remember that this was in the late 70"s when Lamborghni Countach was every young boys fantasy. The Cannonball Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, became a full length motion picture. Gold chains for men were becoming a fashion statement. And if you mentioned you were searching for Lamborghini parts, you were viewed as a walking gold mine. It is great to see that the early Lamborghni"s are not forgotten. Even though one author referred to Islero and Jarama as "Dead End Cars". Personally I felt that the author did not understand the clientel for these cars. The press of the time was so hyped with Miura and Countach that anything different was viewed as trash. Maybe today they would not understand the passion I have seen reflected in the Lamborghini restoration web sites. These are truely great labors of love. I tip my hat to those for their passion and dedication. Maybe someday I will again stir the passion I once felt for Lamborghini. Maybe if the right car comes along. For all the information collected long ago still remains in my files to be re- awaken. Jon F. Gasper sefac456@yahoo.com |
