RE: [VintageLambo] Re: Sadly the Registro is not suitable for most of us-

Body of Message

I would like to ask some basic questions for example as to my JARAMA 1. If the interior is completely redone, new leather, new carpet, new sky (?) is it ORIGINAL ? 2. If the weatherstrips, window gaskets – none available anymore -are redone with pieces of the market or the screen is sealed – is it ORIGINAL? 3. If the car is frame off repainted, color of today, sheet metal of today, now WITH rust protection - ZN - is it ORIGINAL? 4. If the engine is exchanged – is it ORIGINAL? 5. if the electric system – very poor – is redone with relays, fuses, switches, contacts of today – is it ORIGINAL ? I could continue with brake pads, rotors, GAS FILLER CAP !!! and so on.. I think as to my JARAMA the COMPANY is in the OBLIGO to have all original parts available as MERCEDES or PORSCHE does if they ask now to register an original car. I drove an original JARAMA some weeks ago … just 1 Mile then I turned home an ordered a new modified tie rod (? Horizontal link from the steering to the wheels ) for the owner and told him not to drive the car until this was mounted. The stock part the company sells is crap. I mean as far as we classic Lambo owners have been abandoned for decades, had NO support by he company they should be glad if we keep those cars alive and treat them as jewels. Just buy a OEM part and mount it is 10% of what we did to keep the “BEAUTIFUL” and perfect. I drive 7000 RPM at least once a weak, with no fear .. those SALOON LAMBO owners went to the meeting with 80 Mph … C’e sole e bellissimo tempo qui in Tarquinia dietmar frensemeyer member of the FRENCH LOC -----Original Message----- From: Stefano Pasini [mailto:stefanopasini@stefanopasini.it] Sent: Monday, February 23, 2004 8:22 AM To: VintageLambo@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [VintageLambo] Re: Sadly the Registro is not suitable for most of us- Dear Raymond, the 1987 dashboard "from delivery" on a 1986 car is not a problem, as it is a modification made by the factory and you can prove it. The skirts made and fitted by my old friend Max Bobnar (what a splendid guy he was!) are simply not an original part, and one of the scopes of Registro is to preserve original cars giving them an intrinsically better position amongst the modified cars. This is not a tragedy, as you correctly point out: choosing to stay out of the Registro is not something that would force you to sell your car or avoid showing it at the Concorso or wherever you"d like. Keeping a car original or not is a personal choice. My Silhouette was completely standard, though an electronic ignition was probably better: I"ve never fitted it. Personal choice. As for judges, what Valentino says about original parts is good enough for me: but as I know personally most of the people who were there in those moments (Stanzani, Sgarzi, Pizzi, etc) I can always ask them and rest assured that they know what they are talking about. I looked into dozens of Countach and nearly one was identical to the other... Mine has a 1987 dashboard from delivery on, although it"s a April 1986 car. Why? Well it was the car of Patrick Mimran and seemed to be a test car or it was substantly brought to the current manufacturing state, nobody knows this anymore. My Jalpa is completely original except the Ansa Exhaust the factory installed too, the Bobnar running boards and the new installed Permatune Ignition.
