Body of Message

Fred, Lambolist will soon have a message board that will work the same way as Yahoo except there will be no limits for numbers of messages, file sizes etc. We are just testing it at the moment to be sure it all works ok. Yahoo is good but has its limitations so we are trying to design a message board to be more suited to the types of messages and info that the Lamborghini lists use rather than a "one size fits all" approach. You can imagine the amount of work involved so it is taking a lot longer than I first thought. Things like no advertising, unlimited message archives, unlimited photo uploads, specific areas for posting instructions on each model (so you can search for everything relating to say, wheel bearing adjustment), off course all the parts and service manuals that are already on the site and will be added to, specific areas for images under headings like events, parts cross-referencing, repairs etc etc etc. You get the picture. Easy to use and fast to access are the keywords along with no limits in any areas. Should not be to much longer! One of the problems with Yahoo Groups is the slow search function. So we figured that there were several advantages to not using Yahoo for message archives at all, and do that ourselves. When David Hanley offered to host the archives for us, that problem was solved. So that"s how we will be handling archived messages: www.lp112.com It"s a huge improvement over yahoo, and will be even better over time as we add some more bells and whistles, such as the attachments. Bill mentioned keeping the better posts, and I"ve toyed with that idea. The problem there is that it is subjective, as well as time consuming.Ultimately I feel that anybody looking for specific information will want to have access to all the posts. However, I do plan to put some of the better posts together with an index so that we can refer members to specific instructions. We do end up answering the same questions from time to time, and it would be nice to simply say "see the message section on Espada brakes" or whatever. It"s a work in progress, but we have all the pieces.Everything"s being kept and it should end up being a valuable resource for all VLG members. Best regards, Fred .
