The last 40 customer delivery Diablos rolled off the assembly line in Italy in 2001 as SE (Special Edition) examples. 20 were painted in "Oro Elios" (Metallic Gold), and 20 were painted in "Marrone Eklipsis" (Metallic Brown) as our example is. This unique Maroon-Brown Metallic actually shifts color with different angles of light and was chosen to mimic the colors during a sunset.
Many unique features were added to the SE's to make them stand out from the other 6.0's that had been produced. The interior's were color coded to match the special exterior paint schemes. Both driver & passenger seats received a special stitch pattern as well as a power tilt function for the seat backs. Special Titanium fibers were weaved into each piece of carbon fiber as to make these interior and exterior parts even more glossy and contrasting than ever before. The same Titanium was also used on the instrument dials, bezels, and shift gate. Alpine was asked to deck out each of the 40 vehicles with the latest in audio and DVD navigation that was available at the time. Mechanically the SE's remained very similar to the standard 6.0's although the intake manifolds & cylinder head covers were finished in special Magnesium to save weight and dress up the engine bay. The transmission received shorter gear ratios, and the large Brembo brakes were detailed with "Lamborghini" script logos.
The Special Edition 6.0's were all about "Attention to Detail." This is why these 40 examples are considered to be some of the most collectible Lamborghinis on the planet! Our example comes complete with all the factory books, tools, keys, car cover, and original accessories! ONLY 2,250 Kilometers have been traveled since new, which equates to just under 1,400 miles; and Symbolic (Lamborghini San Diego) has overseen the care for this particular Diablo for several years now.
**Please call for additional details regarding the collision report on AutoCheck in 2006.** The vehicle ran up on a parking curb and cracked the front bumper cover dead center. The car was brought to Symbolic (authorized Lamborghini repair & maintenance facility) and properly repaired through the owner's insurance company, thus the VIN being reported to AutoCheck. THIS DIABLO WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A COLLISION! Repair records are available, and show that the bumper cover was replaced and accounted for a majority of the repair bill..
